Do not fret. I’ve got an internet connection right now, and I’ll be heading back to school in about a week, so I’ll be back soon-ish.

    Eris

  2. Heading home today, so there will be a bit of radio silence.

  3. Anonymous said: Do you happen to have a page in which I can see all your fic recs? Or a tag I can check? Thanks!

You can probably just check the “Fan Fiction Friday” tag. Or the one that says “fan fiction”.

  4. Fan Fiction Friday

If Music be the Food of Love by Cathaummary:

Summary: It’s a rainy night in London, and John can’t stand the sound of it anymore. Sherlock offers to play for him, and John thinks of something else he wants Sherlock to offer him. It isn’t about them getting together - they always were. If their relationship is a symphony, this is just the next movement. And it plays on.

    The Vacant Apartment by Storybreather221

Summary: It’s been four months since Sherlock’s death, and John has spent the majority of it buried in work and determinedly ignoring anything that reminds him of the consulting detective. But when Lestrade approaches him with the mysterious murder of Ronald Adair, John finds that resisting the lure of a case may not be as easy as he thought. And when the Adair murder turns out to be merely a ripple in the greater underground crime scene, John finds someone he wasn’t looking for, but desperately wanted to see.

Mummy Holmes at Baker Street by Consulting_Crazy

Summary: Mummy Holmes drops by 221B at the start of a month long visit.

    The Wedding Toast by PipMer

Summary: “I know that tradition states that this is the point where the best man would give a speech and a toast. But since my best man would undoubtedly be prone to a self-indulgent, rambling monologue that would be rife with veiled insults directed at the entire wedding party, I thought I’d change things up a bit.”

John gives a toast at his own wedding.

Warning: Contains Season 3 speculation. Steer clear of this one if you want to avoid possible spoilers.

Notes in the Tip Jar by Lakeore

Summary: Being mute, Sherlock never really communicated with anyone. That is, until the notes in the tip jar started.

    Language Barriers by prodigaldaughter13

Summary: Sherlock swears in French when he’s stressed. John has a truly terrible accent.

The Soul Never Thinks Without a Picture by ScienceofObsession

Summary: A series of drabbles inspired by photos and gifs on Tumblr.

Beyond These Games by CrackshotKate, recreational

Summary: Getting to know the man behind the voice could be a definite advantage, Greg thought. Yet that it could also mean his death was just the beginning of the complications.

    "Kulaso."…Gesundheit?" by Lady In A Tux (CollateralDamage666)

Summary: Sherlock wants to try out a new restaurant. Sure, why not? What could possibly go wrong?

Do I have the strength force this moment to its crisis? by VonderlandinMalice

Summary: "I have always been the caretaker, the giver, and I enjoy it, I do. But I can’t deny that there is part of me that wants to be the given to, and the cared for. I may not ever get it; in fact, I probably won’t, but dreams have never hurt anyone more than the harsh truth of reality has."

A Declaration of Love by Miss_SnowWhitePink

Summary: Relationships are hard to understand. Even for a genius…

    Inconsequential by Hummingbird1759

Summary: Five times Mycroft Holmes thought Molly Hooper was not important… and one time when he saw that she was.

Beauty and the Beast by KitanaRiddle

    Summary:

Once upon a time in a flat on Baker Street, a young consulting detective lived in 221B. Although he was handsome and brilliant, the consultant was spoiled, selfish and unkind. But then one winter’s night a woman he had solved a case for offered him a single rose as a thank-you for his help, as well as extended an invitation for dinner. Repulsed by her sentiment, the detective sneered at the gift and turned the woman away. But she warned him not to be deceived by his belief that companionship was a weakness, for love and friends are what kept people safe. However, when he dismissed her again the woman revealed herself to not only be a dominatrix, but also an enchantress. The man tried to disprove her powers but it was too late for she had seen that his desire to be brilliant caused him to deny the unexplained ways of magic and love. As punishment she transformed him into a hideous beast and placed a powerful spell on the flat and all who were in there.

    Winding Sands by Noxtorious

Summary: Sherlock gets a outrageous case about a rare, priceless fish that’s been stolen. At first, he deems the case silly and refuses to help. Expect when he’s called by the Yard and the same case he rejected had similarities with their crime scene. When clues and events surrounding the case start to turn strange, the outcome will be more than anyone could have expected.

    Shoulder Mounted Dragon by StuftZombie

Summary: No one really put Sherlock at the top of their “most likely to have a dragon” list. So it was a bit of a shock when he arrived at a crime scene with one riding on his shoulder.

  8. Fuck.

    Fuckity fuck fuck fuck.

I just realized I didn’t do Fan Fiction Friday yesterday. I am incredibly sorry about that. It’s Finals Week in my neck of the woods and I lost track of time studying. I will be doing a post later on tonight, though.

Once again, I am really sorry about that.

New Let’s Draw Sherlock Challenge: Reinterpreting Famous Works! (example art by Katzensprotte)
Ends: June 3 (just over one month)
~Your challenge~
Visual arty people: Choose a famous image, be it artwork, photograph, or sculpture, and then reinterpret it as Sherlock. You can draw a picture, sculpt, cosplay, pretty much any medium you are comfortable with.
Writey type people: You can choose a visual work like above, but you can also choose a classic literary work if you like, such as an old poem or novel. For your entry, you can write anything from a ficlet to a fuller interpretation; there is no character or format limit this time.
Both: Be creative! All skill levels are welcome, as always!
You may use ANY CHARACTERS from Sherlock. Any other versions of Sherlock are welcome also, not only BBC. All pairings are welcome.
The idea is to create an image or fic that resembles the original, but if you start to feel that it’s limiting you, it’s completely fine if the work you end up with only has one or two elements of the original. It’d be cool if you explained your thought process in these cases.
What defines a “famous work”? For the specific purpose of this challenge, we’re defining this as older, “classic” works, that are sure to be recognized by many people. Michelangelo’s David, an ancient well known cave painting, Da Vinci, Picasso, pretty much anything from an art history class, is fair game. I’m not as familiar with classic text, but generally if it’s taught in a class room it’s probably valid as well. Even slightly more modern entries, such as the famous Action Comics cover of Superman smashing a car, could be valid. HOWEVER, we don’t want entries from artists still working in the field. For example, the Gorillaz cover of the four band members in profile is a famously reinterpreted artwork, but would not be a valid entry here. We’re looking for pieces that have a longer life and historical value.
Submitting your entry: As before, you should post your entry on your blog. When you post, you must include the image of the original work in your post. Please don’t just link to it. We want to see your reference easily. If you wrote on a literary work, you are allowed to provide a link. If the work is not available online, please provide an excerpt!
Use the exact tag “letsdrawsherlock”, all one word. Sometimes even when you tag correctly, a post won’t show up in the tag, so you should also send an ask to us with the post number. A tutorial on how to find your post number is here: POST ID NUMBER TUTORIAL
Remember that we’ll be using the queue so your post may not show up right away. We’ll keep you updated on the length of the queue so you should know roughly when your image should post, and whether you’ll need to send us the number again.
There are no plans to create a collage or anything at the end of the month, so you can choose any size or dimensions you want.
~~ALSO MAYBE THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE: noooo submitting with phrases like “I know this is crap but…”!!!! There is no shaming here for quality, don’t put your work down!!! Just have fun and don’t stress!~~
